The Myth of "Green "Jobs

Current renewable energy policies are no more than an unnecessarily costly means of achieving given emissions reductions.
The idea, now embraced by our Government, that officially-created higher energy costs open up exciting new prospects for growth and jobs, is an illusion which this paper dispels effectively.

The Performance of Wind Farms in the United Kingdom and Denmark

Thanks to a local supporter for the attached report into the Performance (or lack off Performance) of Wind Farms in the United Kingdom and Denmark.
Very interesting reading!

"These findings have important implications for policy towards wind generation in the UK. First,
they suggest that the subsidy regime is extremely generous if investment in new wind farms is profitable despite the decline in performance due to age and over time. Second, meeting
the UK Government’s targets for wind generation will require a much higher level of wind capacity – and, thus, capital investment – than current projections imply. Third, the structure
of contracts offered to wind generators under the proposed reform of the electricity market should be modified since few wind farms will operate for more than 12–15 years."

"The sound of high winds: the effect of atmospheric stability on wind turbine sound and microphone noise" van den Berg dissertation, University of Groningen, 2006"

This scientific study, will give you a clearer insight into the torture of living too close to turbines, I urge you to visit the site and read for yourself.

In particular for other campaigning groups- there is very valuable scientific data!

EU Government did not do their homework on wind energy! -Possibly no benefit at all!

According to the European Platform Against Wind Farms (EPAW), which represents over 500 associations from 23 countries, the National Renewable Energy Action Plans adopted by EU States in June 2010 have failed to answer two essential questions: how much will be saved in greenhouse gas emissions by the EU target of 20% renewable energy by 2020, and how much will it cost Society to implement this policy. The Platform argues that it is a violation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe's Aarhus Convention on Human and Environmental Rights, which is a mandatory part of EU law.

From a political point of view, remarks EPAW, it is nothing short of irresponsible that billions upon billions of euros of public money would be spent on “green investments” without first conducting feasibility studies showing the expected results in terms of CO2 saved.

Windwatch Symposium Success!

We wanted to thank everyone for turning out in such high numbers yesterday, we also wanted to thank all the guest talkers for giving their time to help in answering any questions or queries. To the facilitators and to the Village Inn for hosting us.
Looking now to stepping things up a gear moving forward, some great suggestions in regard to where do we go from here.  We will contact everyone interested in due course, the important thing is to remain focused and to keep the momentum.
We are on a high with the level of support given and to see our public representatives and press out in such high numbers, hope that they can carry on our message to their co workers and perhaps we can start to uncover the truth behind the blight that we are all supposed to suffer with.
Thank you again to everyone.  Photos to follow soon.
